My First Lacrosse Shoot

April 04, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

I’ve been shooting sports for a few years now, and in that time I had never once photographed lacrosse. Actually, come to think of it, I’ve never even seen a lacrosse match in person. This week I was finally assigned to a lacrosse game between Our Lady Of Lourdes in Poughkeepsie and Washingtonville. The game was also the first ever sporting event held on a brand new artificial turf field at Lourdes which is always a pleasure to shoot on.

Shooting local sports usually means kneeling down on hard packed dirt sidelines for a while, but the artificial turf fields offer a clean area to rest gear and a nice soft area to work on. The perfect green surface and bright paint lines also help to add a ton of color to the photos, which is a welcomed bonus.

I always love shooting new things and I’m definitely looking forward to adding more lacrosse shots to the portfolio this season.
